UPCOMING WEBINAR: Using ABS for Medical Applications: The Benefits of Mass Polymerization

Join Trinseo as we discuss the benefits of using acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resins as a material for all types of medical devices—from large and small equipment housings to insulin pens and inhalers.

ABS resins have been long valued because of their durability, toughness, and aesthetic appeal. When produced using mass polymerization technology, ABS resins offer attractive advantages to medical industry customers: exceptional purity, low residual monomers, lot-to-lot consistency, and superior whiteness.

This webinar will cover of the differences between the emulsion method of producing ABS and mass polymerization, which is how Trinseo manufactures MAGNUM™ ABS Resins. These resins are recognized as superior in the automotive and consumer electronics industries as well as among high-end extruders. They have been relied on for decades to satisfy the critical needs of demanding applications, and they’re ideal for medical applications.

  • UPCOMING WEBINAR: Optimizing Performance and Achieving Customer Satisfaction from Your ABS Resin

UPCOMING WEBINAR: Optimizing Performance and Achieving Customer Satisfaction from Your ABS Resin

    Presented by Trinseo

Join us live Tuesday, January 23, 2018 9:00AM ET (New York)

Presented by Trinseo, join our colleague Mark Vreys, technical services leader and resident- expert on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) materials based in Terneuzen, The Netherlands, as he provides information allowing manufacturers of extrusion and injection molding applications to select the most suitable ABS materials for optimum production, product performance and cost efficiency. He will discuss the two methods of producing ABS – a traditional emulsion method and the alternative mass polymerization process – comparing the two and discussing the benefits and applications of each. Included will be a discussion of the propriety mass polymerization process used by Trinseo for MAGNUM™ ABS which is most appropriate for certain applications. ABS finds its way into furniture, automotive, buses, trucks, recreational and utility vehicles, bath tub liners, advertisement boards, luggage and doors. For optimum product performance and cost efficiency, the material requires specific performance properties, e.g., purity, low levels of volatiles, thermal stability, colorability, UV absorbers, optical brighteners, and the best way to obtain these attributes will be discussed.

This webinar is sponsored by Trinseo, provider of specialty engineered performance plastics solutions to various industries including Consumer Electronics, Medical Devices and Automotive.

UPCOMING WEBINAR: How 3D Printing Is Revolutionizing the Manufacturing, Medical and Consumer Markets

    Presented by Trinseo
Join us live Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10AM EST (New York)

Join Trinseo and our guest presenter, Manuel Delgado from Advanc3D Materials, live on Thursday, December 7 from 10:00 to 11:00 EST as we discuss the impact of 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, on the manufacturing, medical and consumer markets. We’ll discuss the reasons for the growth in the industry, companies involved in the technology, and real world applications. We’ll discuss the challenges the industry faces both from a technology and a materials perspective and how these challenges are being addressed as we move toward the future.

    About Trinseo

Trinseo is a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders, and synthetic rubber. The company focuses on delivering innovative solutions to help our customers in a variety of end-markets create products that are intrinsic to our lives. Earlier this year, Trinseo formed a partnership with Advanc3D Materials to create FFF filament from its several MAGNUM™ ABS and EMERGE™ Advanced grades.  These specialty resins have the elastomeric properties required for additive manufacturing and also include, depending on the grades, biocompatibility testing, FDA food contact compliance, ignition resistance and matte and glossy finishes, allowing customers to use the same qualified materials for prototype manufacturing to full-scale production.

    About Advanc3D Materials

Advanc3D Materials GmbH is a material producer for additive manufacturing located in Hamburg, Germany. The company offers powder for selective laser sintering process (SLS powder) and FMD/FFF filaments made from plastics. The company’s specialty is developing products that go beyond the standard, such as polypropylene that can be laser sintered or materials with specific properties such as biocompatibility or food contact compliance or ignition resistance. In addition we develop material based on customer specifications – either as a service provider or together with customers. For more information visit www.advanc3dmaterials.com
